My name is Gilbert Fisher. I've been an attorney for 20 years. I've practiced workers' compensation law for that whole time and for the last six years I've had my own firm, the Law Office of Attorney Gilbert Fisher. Over the past 20 years of practicing workers' compensation law, I've had the opportunity to work on both sides of the fence. I've represented insurance companies and I've represented injured workers. By far, I prefer representing injured workers. And for the last six years, I've had the opportunity to develop my own firm and to be able to practice law the way I want to and to represent clients the way I want to.
We try to approach each case with an understanding of what our clients are going through. Personally, my father passed away as a result of a work injury years ago and my family went through a lot of difficulty, a lot of the difficulty that we see our clients going through. So each time someone comes through the door, I try to start with an understanding of what they're experiencing and trying to figure out how we can help them.
One of the biggest complaints that we see about workers' compensation attorneys is that attorneys never have enough time to spend with their clients. This is a difficult balance for an attorney because a lot of the work we do is behind the scenes dealing with the insurance company. But nevertheless, we try to take the opportunity to meet each of our clients when they come in, we try to meet with them after their medical appointments and go over the ratings in their case, and at other key times in the case, we try to make sure that I personally, or one of our attorneys meets with our clients. I think we do that more than pretty much any other firm out there.
Workers' compensation is a diverse practice in that people may be injured through all types of industries and in all types of jobs. But our cases are exclusively workers' compensation cases. When clients visit our office, we want them to feel like they're in the hands of people who understand their needs and who are dedicated to solving their issues. The favorite part for me of working with my clients is to hear their stories. Every person who walks through our door has an interesting story. Some of the stories are hard to hear, to be honest, but everybody has a story and we like to hear those and to be able to solve their problems.
